Varietal: Syrah
Vintage: 2003
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
Recommendation: Drink
January, 2010: This continues to drink well. It is throwing a fair amount of sediment which requires decanting.
September, 2006: In 2003, we sourced our Alesia Sonoma Coast Syrah from the Keller Ranch. The combination of low yields and cool climate produced a very balanced, concentrated, and pepper-driven expression of Sonoma Coast Syrah.
Soaring and complex nose of intense black fruit, beef blood and white pepper. Medium weight, but intense black fruit on the palate, leads to a long refreshing finish that offers a terrific lingering character of white pepper. It is very approachable now and will improve for years.
We hope you enjoy our first Syrah as it captures the balance of ripeness, concentration and complexity that we are striving for with this varietal.
