Rhys Vineyards
2004 Alesia Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Varietal: Pinot Noir
Vintage: 2004
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
Recommendation: Drink

January, 2010: Drinking well, we recommend a one hour decant. Drink.

January, 2009: This is currently tight on opening but with air it is very accessible. If you open one now make sure to decant. Drink/Hold.

January, 2007: This wine is a blend of a two great vineyards in the Petaluma gap area of the Sonoma Coast appellation. Two-thirds of the fruit comes from an extremely cool part of the Chileno Valley in the southern part of the Sonoma Coast appellation, while the remainder is from the Kanzler vineyard near Sebastopol. The combination offers a focused and spicy expression of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. We feel this wine is every bit the equal of our 2004 Alesia vineyard-designated offerings.

Deep nose of sandy red and black fruit, cinnamon and clove. Delicious red and black fruit on the palate, with great focus and balance. The long refreshing finish offers loads of spice and a touch of graphite. This is very approachable now with an hour or so of air and has the structure to improve for several years.
